A Birthday in Nantucket

Birthday cake is nice. Miles of windy wintery beach all to ourselves even better. This is Nantucket in the off-season, pure New England, a place to celebrate the year behind and the year ahead with walks and drives and peace and quiet.

the day was as cold as it looks

all roads in town are narrow, some houses set right against the curbs

some are also twisty and cobbled, the houses set back by a sidewalk’s width
