Friday is Market Day
Friday is market day in Lewes. The weekly market is small but complete with meat, sausage, fish, local cheeses, breads, and of course seasonal fruits and vegetables. After seeing a film in Brighton, we came home to a dinner Andrew had made earlier in the day from our purchases. Fresh, local squid stuffed with porcini mushrooms, green beans, and new potatoes, with rhubarb fool (made with Andrew’s own rhubarb) for dessert. Local eating at its best. Here are some photo highlights from Andrew’s garden, our market morning and a tour around Lewes Castle in the afternoon.
That second photo has a surreal quality to it. Makes me miss it very badly.
I understand what you mean. I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed this country until I arrived and my eyes welled up with tears.
